Austin’s own Soft Healer have built up a name and reputation on merely 3 releases and no more than 10 songs. That’s not to say Soft Healer have only 8 songs; most of their creations do not need to be put on record. Actually, most of their tracks get worked live, instead of in a recording studio. Their eerie, sensual, funky, retro rock jazzy sound is influenced by the likes of Swell Maps, Allen Toussaint, Funkadelic, Can, Jimi Hendrix, Sonic Youth, John Lee Hooker, as well as lots of Pakistani and Thai 60s garage rock comps on Sublime Frequencies. Core members Marie Butcher and Will Slack, on vocals and guitar, respectively, will be joined by current third member Adam Jones on drums.
