JONATHAN F. HORNE QUINTET

Led by Austin resident Jonathan F. Horne (guitarist), this installment of the Jonathan F Horne Quintet for the Sonic Transmissions festival features a group of instrumentalists who have worked together in many disciplines together for over a decade to celebrate the music of late period John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, and Sonny Sharrock. This project represents a celebration of the sometimes unfathomable, beyond categorization tunes that have been avoided by the jazz mainstream as standards, per se. The rest of the ensemble will feature Carl Smith and Jason Jackson on tenor saxophones, Sonic Transmissions’ mastermind Ingebrigt Haker Flaten on bass and Jeffrey Olson on drums.
